Universal Design for Learning
Provide Multiple Means of Representation
In every content area, I plan to represent information to students in a variety of ways throughout the school year. This will guide students to become resourceful, knowledgeable learners. Some of the ways I plan to present information are by:
|
-Showing videos and using other forms of media
-Providing visuals and manipulatives -Modeling language by using sentence frames -Highlighting patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships both in texts and in mathematics |
Provide Multiple Means of Action and Expression |
Provide Multiple Means of Engagement |
One way I plan to differentiate instruction to meet students needs is by providing them with choices for how they want to express what they've learned. An example of giving student choices for expression is shown below. The learning goal was the same for all students (retell a story to show understanding), but how they wanted to meet that goal (art, writing, movement, or creation) was chosen individually.
|
My plan for differentiation begins with taking a learning profile of each of my students. If I want to know how my students individually learn, the best thing I can do is to ask them. The format of this should be adjusted for upper grade students, but the content should be comparable.
