Classroom Management
In a student-centered classroom, it is the responsibility of both the teacher and the students to create and reinforce a set of classroom norms. By allowing the students to take part in establishing norms, I am able to see what they believe is important to include when creating a safe learning environment. The students are aware of what is expected of them and can hold themselves responsible for following rules that they created. The rules will be created using positive language and will be referred to for the remainder of the school year.

In order for students to feel safe to succeed and fail, I will implement collaborative discussion guidelines for my students so that they have a positive environment to share ideas and grow. I plan to establish these norms at the start of the year and refer to them regularly, scaffolding the class using sentence frames.
